Why We Hate Us

In Dick Meyer's book " Why We Hate Us: Americans Discontent In The New Millennium" part of the problem with the 21st century in America is based on social networking sites, and more importantly, everyone's sudden need to market themselves. Aside from the class discussion on Virtual Reality, do you, personally, feel that this aspect of technology will have any impact on the world of architecture?

  1. i do feel like the virtual reality worlds will have an impact on architecture. it will be unfortunate if the future of architecture is strictly computer generated. and as a designer, i personally would not want my projects to remain as 'projects'...what's the use in only designing things that never get constructed? that is what school is for.

  2. I completely agree. Not only do I want to have my projects constructed but I'm also such a people person that I don't think I would feel the same level of accomplishment having an impersonal avatar telling me how much they enjoyed my "virtual building".
